About Jack<\/h2>\n\n\n

With over 32 years of experience as a Police Officer and Conservation Officer, I bring a deep understanding and credibility to issues of Public Safety, Conservation, and the Environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have worked on the challenging streets of Vancouver\u2019s Downtown Eastside and Victoria, where homelessness and drug overdoses remain persistent issues. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how personal safety and community challenges impact the way we live and raise our children.<\/p>\n

My background in Conservation has provided me with a clear perspective on the delicate balance between protecting our natural environment and meeting human needs. I believe our environmental resources are resilient and manageable, but safeguarding healthy habitats for all species is critical to maintaining this balance.<\/p>\n

As a member of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) and the Municipal Pension Retirees Association (MPRA), I fully understand the difficulties that seniors and pensioners encounter,<\/span>\u00a0in striving to live with dignity.<\/p>\n

As a father of three daughters, I am driven to ensure Canada\u2019s young people inherit a future that is healthy, prosperous, and full of opportunity.<\/p>\n

Currently, I am serving my third term as a Municipal Councillor with the District of North Saanich, a role I have held for 10 years. Throughout this time, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to act in the best interests of our district and its residents.<\/p>\n

Additionally, I have experience as a Candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada, having campaigned in the federal riding of Victoria in 2008.<\/p>\n

Should you elect me as your Candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in Saanich\u2013Gulf Islands, I am committed to continuing my long history of dedicated public service. Together, we can work toward a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for our community.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the 1200 km Cops for Cancer, Tour de Rock ride to raise donations for Pediatric Cancer Research, I was met by my daughters at Pacific Christian School in Saanich.<\/p>\n\n

Jack has been volunteering with the Salvation Army for over 16 years and understands the value and impact we have on our community when we volunteer to serve others.<\/p>\n\n

Jack’s Biography<\/h2>\n\n\n

I was born and raised on the Prairies. I studied in Saskatoon and became an Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officer from 1975 \u2013 1980. My interests drew me to a career in police work and I joined the Vancouver Police Department in 1980. I worked various duties including Undercover Drugs, Walking the Beat on Granville Street, Emergency Response Team, and working the Downtown East Side.<\/p>\n

As a young person I had always dreamed of living in the Yukon. In 1989 I Joined the Yukon Fish and Wildlife Department as the District Conservation Officer in Faro and moved there until 1991.<\/p>\n

In 1991 I returned to policing, joining the Victoria Police Department. I worked Patrol, Traffic and was the Media Liaison Spokesperson for Vic PD. In 2004 I joined the Central Saanich Police Department where I remained until my retirement in 2008.<\/p>\n
